I met Alex Wassabi for the second time last Friday, March 2nd. It was in Jollibee, BGC. Technically, it was my third time to see him. Everything is documented on my YTFF adventures, see my previous blogs. (Ooh look at her doing a shameless self promo LOL.) However this was just the second time that I got to interact and take a picture with him.
Honestly, I had to go attend an orientation in my university the same day but ya girl knows her priorities so she chose Alex over uni LOL. That is how much I genuinely want to meet him. There was a giveaway beforehand where the winners will get to meet Alex. My cousin and I joined, apparently, and we both won. We received a dm from Jollibee that we had to be there the next day around 4 PM. I was actually planning to go to my uni first but that would mean I’d be coming from Manila and the transpo would take so much time, so I decided to just ditch the orientation. Thankfully, I didn’t get screwed for that. My cousin also had to excuse himself from his classes and fortunately his teachers were fine with that. He went straight to our house from school as I was getting ready by 3 PM. I just wore my Beatles shirt tucked under my floral shorts. To make it look like not so pambahay, I wore a loose jacket and some running shoes. Now, I looked like I was just running around BGC and had to stop and rest for a while in Jollibee. That was definitely not the look I was trying to go for but I ended up looking exactly like that LOL. I just wanted to look casual and not overdressed. The annoying cousin of mine went back home to change outfits. I lent him my beloved Sherlock shirt and he hasn’t returned it since. I am going to have to remind him later. That bish. I think it was 4:15 when he came back. We tried finding a Grab right away then I was starting to get anxious because it was taking so much time. It was around 5 PM when we found a driver. Remember when Jollibee DMed us that we had to be there by 4 PM? Gosh we’re one hour late already. We went out and saw our Grab outside but the driver probably didn’t know so he drove past us and it was so funny how we were just running after him. When we were caught up, I knocked at the backseat and there we went. The venue was just near our place but there was a slight traffic. When we reached our destination, we went straight to the second floor. There were two lines - one for the winners and another for the walk-ins who were just wishing to meet Alex. Our line wasn’t that long and that’s most probably because we were late. Before 6 PM, we got inside. They gave us name tags and it felt so much like a birthday party LOL. The room was already pretty much full and the seats in front were occupied so we were seated at the back. We met someone who was just by herself and we talked for a bit. Then Alex finally arrived at 6:30 and the crowd went wild. I couldn’t even hear him when he was talking. There were games such as French Fry Eating Contest and Wassabi Pop Quiz. We also sang happy birthday (in English and Filipino) to Alex since it’s his birthday month. We love a Filipino birthday party. They also served Wasabi fries to everyone which is the main purpose of the event – to introduce their new product. I personally didn’t hate the taste of it but I also didn’t love it that much to the point I would feel the need to order it. It was alright, a bit spicy from the first bite with a salty aftertaste. I didn’t think I would like it at first but if you buy me one, thank you very much. The meet and greet started not long after. While we were in line, we saw Baninay and we took pictures with her. She seemed like a nice and down to earth person. She was game to take photos with everyone. As we were moving closer, I saw Matt holding Alex’s vlogging camera. I told my cousin that I wanted to be in Alex’s vlog so I’ll try to be friends with Matt LOL. When I got to be in front of him, I said hi. The camera wasn’t even turned on so I know I’m not in the vlog haha. I can tell he was a bit surprised that I recognized him. He asked me how I was and I didn’t know what to answer so I just murmured something lmao. He didn’t hear it so he moved closer to me and I told him that I was super excited to meet Alex. I think he gave me a smile and thumbs up, bruh his eyes are pretty. He might be wearing contacts but I still like it. Then I asked if we could take a selfie. He was so game and chill and I wasn’t expecting that he’d put his arms around me. Ang harot lang huehuehue. Then it was my turn to meet Alex. His security was like pushing me to go up to him already and I was like “Calm down, kuya Charles”. He should look at me first so I’ll know he’s ready. When I came up to him, we hugged each other and took a photo right away. I was also glad that someone was able to capture that moment. I saw a snap story from a person who works at Jollibee. Funny story, I was about to download it but when I came back, the story was already gone. It has already reached the 24 hour mark. I had to message her personally and ask if she was able to keep a copy and she was super nice about it. She sent it to me through messenger and I just, ugh, bless her soul. Also, I just noticed that Alex was wearing somewhat like a tie-dyed pink shirt which was close to the colour of my jacket. HA. I remember when we were also unexpectedly matching at YTFF when we were both wearing kind of like washed denim coloured outfits. I asked Alex if we could take another photo with a cute pose but as I was explaining it to him, his security was forcing us apart and he said in a super cute way that they won’t let him. I am laughing now just thinking about how I was trying to hold on to him but they’re moving me away from him. Why am I so dramatic? I have so much I want to talk to him about, but the meet up was so rushed it’s literally just “take a pic and leave.” I understand it, though. It was a free M&G and Alex would be so tired. I’m just hoping he’d be able to interact more with us next time, just like in YTFF. Although now I’m just really glad I got to meet this ball of sunshine again. He’s so nice and happy and tall and positive and his smile is just one of the best in the world. It went on super quick and we were already walking away from the resto when we decided halfway down the block to go back in and wait a little bit longer for Alex to leave. We were ordering a float and hamburger when Aaron went down with some bodyguards. There was a slight commotion and then a few seconds later it was Alex’s turn. I rushed to go for him and I got to touch his arms. It was so funny because my cousin was telling me about our order but I was focusing on something else. I didn’t notice that Matt was filming behind him. I am in his vlog after all LOL. We got our order and waited outside until their van leaves. We didn’t even know which one was his so we decided to give up after a few minutes. We walked from the venue to our house while reminiscing what just happened and I feel grateful because I get to experience these amazing things. I can’t wait to meet Alex again for the third time. Brb planning my next weird M&G pose idea.

I am not taking credit for this idea because I just found it somewhere on Pinterest but I think it’s cool and experimental so I just wanted to try it. What you have to do is to put your music on shuffle and then list down the first ten songs that will play. Now, just listing them down is quite boring so I wanted to write some things about each song and what it reminds me of. I dare you to do this as well and share it with the world because... why not? You might surprise yourself in five years and be like “That song was on my playlist?! Wow I had a great taste in music.” ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
1. La Vie En Rose – Daniela Andrade This was the first song that played and boy, oh, boy, I enjoyed it. It is very calming and I really like this version by Daniela Andrade because her voice is so soothing. It reminds me of the movie Monte Carlo which was set in Paris. So much aesthetic and giving me princess vibes. 2. The Good Side – Troye Sivan He just released this song and I’m quite surprised the first time I heard it. I was expecting some bops but this is definitely not one of those. It’s an emotional and meaningful song. I heard it’s about Connor Franta but it might be just rumour. Still, I am heartbroken because I used to ship them so hard and it’s tragic and beautiful at the same time. 3. Moon River – Audrey Hepburn I like listening to songs like this when my ears are tired of all the bops in the world. The first time I heard it was on “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” so I have no idea if that is where it originally came from, but I like Audrey’s version already so it doesn’t matter. 4. There For You – Martin Garrix, Troye Sivan Wow another song from Troye. Is it that obvious that I like listening to him? It’s a good bop and has some catchy tunes but I think he had better songs especially from Blue Neighbourhood and TRXYE. 5. ILYSB – STRIPPED – LANY I honestly didn’t know that this song has other versions so I am not sure if this one’s the original. My cousin once played another version and I got so confused because I am so used to this stripped version and I like it better anyways. 6. Superficial Love – Ruth B. I love her voice so much. There was a time when I only listened to this song on repeat as well as her other song, Lost Boy, which instantly became one of my favourites of all time. 7. Scars To Your Beautiful – Alessia Cara I also love Alessia’s unique voice. The song is beautiful as well as the message it’s trying to convey. This is a breath of fresh air from all the songs about the booties and the hoes. 8. Perfect Strangers – Jonas Blue, JP Cooper The first time I heard it was from Conor Maynard’s younger sister. Bruh, that girl can sing. I especially like how she did it slower than the original and with the use of a piano. It’s just beautiful I might have cried a bit. 9. Fresh Eyes – Andy Grammer I’ve been hearing this song everywhere when it came out and I just got curious until I looked it up. It’s so catchy and I could imagine myself dancing along to it. Embarassingly. 10. Miss Jackson – Panic! At The Disco, LOLO Great band. Great song. It makes me remember the good old times when I wasn’t into YouTube yet and I had to wait and watch the countdown on TV until its music video would play on MTV and MYX. It was the golden times. There you have it. I can’t wait to do this again next time and see how much my playlist has changed. I like this idea because I honestly can’t pick my top 10 favourite songs and this is another cool way of listing down ten songs. I am definitely going to look back at this in the future when I’m 80 and I will brag at my grandchildren how the music in my generation is better than theirs. Last January 21st, Sunday, I got to see this new English band called New Hope Club at Venice Piazza Grand Canal Mall in Taguig.
To be honest, I was not familiar with this band like I have only heard them before from my friend who is a fan but that was it. I never knew any of their song. The only reason why I wanted to see them live was because I did not want the “LANY incident” to happen again. “What’s the LANY incident?” you might ask. Well, there was a time when LANY had a gig in a mall near us where we wanted to go but we weren’t able to. Now, they’re coming back to do a show here but on a bigger venue and with a bigger ticket price. They have gotten way bigger and we regret big time not attending their first show here and that’s basically why we didn’t want the “LANY incident” to happen again. New Hope Club may be a bigger band someday and we wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity to see them right now. We went to the mall around 4 PM and I was surprised to see that there weren’t a lot of people. I mean they can fill up the venue but the queue wasn’t that long so even if I arrived late I could still buy some tickets unlike other shows where you really had to be there as early as you can if you want to score some passes. However, the mechanics for the tickets is somehow not ideal for me. From what my friend told me, you had to buy their CD at the venue and you get two tickets. That’s great, but then during the signing, only one of you gets to meet the band. What if both of us wanted to meet them? It isn’t possible unless I buy another copy of the album. It would be okay if I was with my mom but if hypothetically I tagged along another fan with me, then one of us had to make a sacrifice. For me, it’d be better if they sold it a cheaper price and it’d be fine if it’s equivalent to one admission only. At least it’s a win-win for the both of us. Each of us gets to keep our own copy of the album and meet the band as well. I’m sorry, enough with the rant. I didn’t even buy a ticket but you know, just saying, in behalf of my fellow concert goers who aren’t that rich and would like to go for a more reasonable and affordable option. Yeah, you read that right, I didn’t buy a ticket because as I have mentioned earlier, I didn’t even know them so I’d rather save money on people I genuinely listen to. I am not rich for the hundredth time, okay. Besides, it was an open venue so anyone can watch. I know I have been a bit harsh with the organizer of the show but there are pros as well. Bless you, MCA. Well the show was supposed to start at 5 and we still had one hour to spare. We walked around the mall which I would recommend when you go there because the view is very aesthetically pleasing like you’re really in Venice, Italy. I mean obviously I’ve never been there personally but this should give you a glimpse of that. You know, like a Walmart version, in millennial terms. I also listened to their album so I could get myself familiarized with their music before watching them. We got ourselves some coffee then fifteen minutes before the show we went back so we could find a good spot. Fortunately, we found a nice unoccupied spot in front of Chowking on the second floor. The view of the stage was great and kudos again to MCA, it started on the dot. The front act was Isabela Vinzon from The Voice. She sang three songs and she did sound better live. Not long after, the three members of the band went up on stage. They were all super tall as expected. They all had guitars wrapped around them. They sang right away and they were great performers. Although I didn’t know the first song I found myself enjoying it and dancing along embarrassingly. They did some subtle fan service here and there. I noticed some screams when Reece and Blake looked at each other. Oh yeah, I learned their names just an hour ago LOL. George kinda looked like my favourite from Lawson so that’s easy to remember. They were so comfortable on stage. They sound great live and they had distinct voices so it’s easy to recognize who’s who. Their individual voices sound awesome and really add up something to the song. I just didn’t become a fan right away but that’s just me. I think they’re way too young for me when in reality I’m just a year older. Still, they look very young in person. Although they’re so tall, they had baby face. They’re all good looking so I really cannot pick one that stands out. On the picture, Reece was the prettiest for me but seeing them in real life, one cannot help but to keep on swerving lanes. I also didn’t find a moment that’s like the highlight of the show. It went by so fast and I just wished it was longer. If I was younger, I think I’d be a fan. They’re like a mix of The Vamps and One Direction for me. All of them can play the instrument and all of them can sing as well. I won’t be surprised if they will become a hit soon. They’re songs are really catchy. I fell in love with “Friend Of A Friend” the first time I heard it and “Fixed” was also familiar and it’s that case where I just didn’t know they were the ones who sang it. I am not surprised that their audience are mostly teens. My 14 year old cousin became an instant fan. I’d probably watch them again next time given the chance but for now, I’m really happy I got to be a part of their first time performing here in our country. It was definitely memorable for us both. Ariana Grande Dangerous Woman Shirt. I really love wearing fandom merch. Seriously, I have a problem. If you look at my closet, most of my shirts are referenced from some celebrities or shows. Notebook, Sticker & Washi tapes. I used to have a moleskin planner that really helps me to be organized but this one has empty pages so I'm planning to use it as a bullet journal which I think would be so much fun since I can customize it the way I want to. Clothes. My mom got me a bunch of clothes. I need to lose some weight though so the first dress would look flattering on me because it's really beautiful in real life. She bought it from like a Korean shop, along with the other dress. Also I am obsessed with sweaters so I was really happy when I got one. That blazer on the bottom left is just in case I need to be formal. Ya know, adulting. Makeup Stuff. I found these liquid lipsticks randomly at Watson. I was hesitant at first because I haven't heard of the brand "beauty now and next" before but I still got it since the set was super cheap. I got all of these three for P269 only. I have tried using it last Christmas and I love it. All shades are wearable and they complement my skin tone very well. Then my cousin gifted me with this brush set which happens to be one of my fave presents. I was going to buy it at Shopee but then he got it for me. It's my first brush set ever. It's very affordable and I heard good reviews about it. I'm so excited. Fragrance. I also got a bunch of fragrances that would last me for a year. The Victoria's Secret Pink Wild at Heart fragrance mist gives off a sweet but subtle scent. It's refreshing and I love how it's not overpowering. My uncle gave me that Davidoff Coolwater Cologne. I'm aware that it's for men but sometimes I like their perfume better because they last longer than women's. The body spray from Body Fantasies is the one I picked out on my own at Watsons when I was just strolling around. I've been looking for a vanilla scent for the longest time because it reminds me of Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck. It's not as good as that but it's a cheaper alternative or dupe if you may. Dong A Metallic Pens. I've been eyeing this set since it came out. I really wanted to have colorful pens that are in good quality. Since I'm planning to do a bullet journal this year, I thought I finally have a reason to purchase this. I know that it's good quality since I had pens from Dong A before and they really last until the final drop of ink. Sleeping Mask. My cousin got me this as a joke at first but it's honestly a practical and thoughtful gift. I already got one in just plain black and this one is a completely opposite design. We don't turn off the lights at night so to help me sleep, I really need this one. Skincare Stuff. My friend gave me these masks and it's that present you thought you don't need but you end up liking more than the rest of your gifts. The past few days, meaning the holidays, have been the busiest I've ever been and I was so close to having breakouts but when I used the mask, it definetely helped calm my skin down. A cousin of mine also got me these toner and soap. I haven't used them yet but they have a refreshing scent. I hope they work on my sensitive skin. Shoes. My mom and friend got me shoes, not that I need anymore of these. I wasn't planning on collecting shoes but now looking at them I think I have way too many. These are great shoes, though. They're comfy and perfect to throw in for casual wear. Mini Backpack. I have been wanting one since forever and I finally got it. I just wanted a plain black but I can't seem to find one. However, when I saw this, I liked the design instantly and the tassels add somewhat like an edgy style to it which I think was cool. I have only one small backpack and one drawstring bag that I am pretty sure I have used up way too much so this isn't just a want, it's also a need. Or am I just trying to justify myself for buying this lol. It isn't expensive though. Got it for P180 only. Can you believe?! Plus my cousins got bags too so I was required to pick one out as well huehue. These are the gifts I got this year. Yes, some of them I picked out on my own with the money I got from relatives. It's fun to pick out stuff you genuinely like, but for me opening presents is more fun. There's that feeling of excitement and surprise. You don't necessarily like all of them but at least the thought of them thinking about you while picking up that present is something I really do appreciate. However, I'm still grateful for everything I got. It's true that once you get older, material things don't matter as much. Just being around my family and friends during this time of the year is enough present for me. Not that I'm being dramatic. Okay, I am. I really learned that especially this year. It's one of the best years yet. I had amazing experiences and became closer than ever with my family. It's also the year I didn't have as much anxiety as I used to. I can say I'm finally out of the dungeon. I was happy most days of 2017 and I hope it continues right up to 2018 and the years to come. Cheers and here's to a happy new year for all of us, G xx I have had my fair shares of winning moments when it comes to giveaways and contests, so today in hopes of helping out my fellow giveaway enthusiasts, I’m sharing with you some of my secrets. Well not really secrets but these things definitely contributed with my success. LOL this looks like I’m talking about how to chase your dreams.
1. Join as much giveaways/contests as possible. It’s true that the higher the entries, the higher the chances of winning. If you joined five contests, you might win at least one of them. You can search ongoing giveaways by literally looking up the hashtag giveaway on Twitter and Instagram. Just make sure you keep a tab on all the contests you’ve joined so you don’t miss the announcement of winners. 2. You must follow all the rules. Those people hosting the giveaway really do check if you follow their rules. There was this one time when the winner got disqualified because she didn’t follow the rules so they had to pick another winner. 3. Create a separate account if you plan to join a lot of giveaways. With this account, don’t just post giveaways entries. Post other stuff too so it doesn’t look like a giveaway account. The reason why you should make a separate account is because you will annoy the shiz out of your friends if all you post about are your giveaway entries. 4. If it’s a contest where you have to answer a question, be creative and witty. Chances are there will be loads of entries and the host will never be able to get through all of them. You have to make your answer stand out. Be funny. Also try to get as much likes as you can even if it’s not required, it helps in making your comment stay on top. 5. Be active on social media. Try to like/retweet as much post of them as possible. This way, they will be aware of your account and you’ll get their attention. You might win because of your strong engagement. That’s basically the main reason why they hold these giveaways anyway, to give back to people that support them. |
