I have had my fair shares of winning moments when it comes to giveaways and contests, so today in hopes of helping out my fellow giveaway enthusiasts, I’m sharing with you some of my secrets. Well not really secrets but these things definitely contributed with my success. LOL this looks like I’m talking about how to chase your dreams.
1. Join as much giveaways/contests as possible. It’s true that the higher the entries, the higher the chances of winning. If you joined five contests, you might win at least one of them. You can search ongoing giveaways by literally looking up the hashtag giveaway on Twitter and Instagram. Just make sure you keep a tab on all the contests you’ve joined so you don’t miss the announcement of winners. 2. You must follow all the rules. Those people hosting the giveaway really do check if you follow their rules. There was this one time when the winner got disqualified because she didn’t follow the rules so they had to pick another winner. 3. Create a separate account if you plan to join a lot of giveaways. With this account, don’t just post giveaways entries. Post other stuff too so it doesn’t look like a giveaway account. The reason why you should make a separate account is because you will annoy the shiz out of your friends if all you post about are your giveaway entries. 4. If it’s a contest where you have to answer a question, be creative and witty. Chances are there will be loads of entries and the host will never be able to get through all of them. You have to make your answer stand out. Be funny. Also try to get as much likes as you can even if it’s not required, it helps in making your comment stay on top. 5. Be active on social media. Try to like/retweet as much post of them as possible. This way, they will be aware of your account and you’ll get their attention. You might win because of your strong engagement. That’s basically the main reason why they hold these giveaways anyway, to give back to people that support them.

I Met Bethany Mota, Niomi Smart, Remi Cruz, Abby Asistio, Donnalyn Bartolome and Kiana Valenciano11/20/2017 I went to It’s A Girl Thing in Manila last November 18. This was my Meet and Greet experience. My whole IAGT experience is on another blog post: whoapotato.weebly.com/home/its-a-girl-thing-manila-2017
When we reached the M&G tent, I was surprised to see the lines were already long. Remi and Niomi’s schedule were at the same time. We went to Niomi’s first. She looked so simple yet classy with her dress. She was like a living doll tbh. I was not prepared on what to tell her so I just hugged her when it was my turn. We took a quick photo and I requested her if we could do the Titanic pose. She said “Oh the Titanic pose? Sure.” I love her accent so much. She happily did the pose right away and it was so funny how she had unintentionally completely blocked me out. She was taller than me and I was behind her. It was an epic fail but Niomi still looked adorable. To the kuya who took our photo, you could’ve done better. Smh. We ran to the other side of the tent to line up for Remi. She asked for my name which I think was so sweet of her. She actually tried to talk to everyone. She saw my hoodie and told me that she loves Troye. I, an awkward bean, didn’t know what to respond so I told her “We love Troye”. Well, don’t we sisters? Lol. Kuya who was taking our photo was becoming impatient but I requested Remi if we could do the gun-pointing-at-the-camera pose. She didn’t understand at first so I showed her and Remi looked so cute on the photo. I didn’t, as usual. Note to self: gurl don’t raise your chin too high on photos. While waiting for our next M&G, we saw Anne Clutz walking with Jeya, her daughter, to the venue. We asked for a photo and she recorded us. OMG are we in Mommy Anne’s vlog?! Yay fun! Our next meetup is with Abby Asistio. She also seemed sweet and we did this pose where each one of our arms and feet was raised. It’s not that complicated, I’m just bad at describing things. She asked me if that pose has any meaning and I told her that it just means that we’re happy. Lol idk my cousin just started that. Before leaving, I told her that she’s so tall and she said it was because of her shoes then she showed me. Next up was Bethany Mota. Everyone lost it when she came out of the tent. I think her line was the longest. Someone from IAGT was also giving out free M&G passes which was kind of unfair for those who joined the giveaways tbh. Anyways, the line was moving fast and I was not prepared. When it was my turn, I just told her about her last M&G here where she would meet the first 500 people in line. I told her that I was number 501 and she felt sad but then I said she was so nice because I still met her that time and she was okay with it. Then we took a quick photo. As usual, I asked for another weird pose. I requested her if we could do an awkward pose. She was so game for it and she told me she’s never done that pose before. Wow I feel honoured. I told her that I got it from Connor Franta but in the back of my head, I knew I got it from Shawn Mendes. I don’t know why I said Connor. These meet ups are making me forget how to think and talk properly. After that photo, I asked Beth if I could touch her dimples. I could feel the bouncers being impatient already but I didn’t care I wanted to do everything while she’s still here bish. Fite me. I bet Bethers gets this request all the time so she’s just used to it. I told her before leaving that touching her dimples is actually one of my dreams and she laughed. I met Donnalyn after that. She was so petite and I couldn’t help but tell her that she’s such a smol bean when I hugged her. She told me that I was a smol bean too. Wow I finally met someone who’s not taller than me lol. Then there goes Kiana. Contrary to Donnalyn, she was super tall. Well, she’s wearing high heeled shoes but still. Her hair was up in a bun and she looks so simple yet classy. I was awkward I didn’t know what to tell her so I just hugged her and said “It’s nice to meet you”. But I wished I told her that I met her brother last year and my goal is to meet the entire Valenciano family. So there we go, that’s how my M&G sessions went. I realized that I was just so calm all throughout the experience. I think I’m getting used to these meetups since I’ve met lots of YouTubers already. I no longer freakout like I used to. I never take this for granted, though. I still feel grateful to have been able to meet these amazing people. Also, kudos to the team. It really feels like a Meet and Greet since we get to have an actual conversation with them and not just “take a pic and leave”. Well here’s to more stories I’ll be sharing and Youtubers we’ll be meeting in the future. Cheers, G. The first ever IAGT event in Manila happened last November 18. It was an all-female line up of YouTubers and other online influencers. I got so many tickets from the online ticket selling and I won several giveaways too. All in all, I think we got 12 General Admission tickets and 12 VIP passes.
I invited some of my friends if they wanted to come but all of them were not available lol. I am that friend that no one cares about. I only went with two of my cousins. I gave away some of my passes outside the venue. We won meet and greet tickets both from IAGT and Globe. I won M&G for Kiana Valenciano, Abby Asistio, and Bethany Mota. My cousin got passes to see Abby, Donnalyn Bartolome, Niomi Smart, and Remi Cruz. The live show was supposed to start at 5PM but the M&G session would begin as early as 11. We had to claim our tickets from Globe between 10 - 11AM only. I was up by 8 and I got anxious that my cousin was still asleep so I kept flooding him with messages even when he was still offline. It was around 9 when I decided to take a shower and thankfully after that, I finally got a message that my cousin was up. I rushed him because Globe said that they’re strict with time. He came to our house at around 10AM. Good thing is that the venue is not that far from our house. My mom was on her way to Taguig as well so we went with her on the ride. We were dropped off at Market Market, and from that, we walked all the way to BGC. We were not that familiar with the venue since we’ve never been there so we asked some guards on the way. We passed like 3 streets and I also had a screenshot of the map as a guide. We were walking/jogging/running on the way because it’s only a quarter before 11. Why are we always like this? Always late. Always rushing to get to the venue. Ugh. We never learn. Then we finally noticed some dancing thingy with some air blown below it so it would move and make it look like it was dancing. Yeah I don’t know what it’s called and I am so bad at describing things. When we saw it, that’s when we knew we had arrived at our destination. But that’s not exactly it, the Globe Tower is still a street away so we ran all the way to that building. It was like a hotel and when we entered, I instantly noticed these two girls sitting on the other side of the room. I asked if they were the people we were looking for and it went fast. She asked for our ID’s, we signed, and then we got our tickets. Glad we made it on time. We went back to the venue and the registration has not started yet, or at least that’s what we thought. We went to the restroom because my cousin had to do some quick outfit change. He wore this cropped long sleeve sweater that we got from the thrift shop the night before. Oh the adventures I have with this cousin of mine. My outfit that day is just a combination of a Troye Sivan hoodie, leggings and a pair of maroon sneakers. We went out and we were awkwardly roaming around when Ryan, Janina’s brother literally ran past us. I almost bumped him a couple of times actually. Ok cool. We didn’t know where else to go when my cousin noticed that the registration has already started. The line was still not that long and some bouncers checked our bags. They weren’t as strict as the ones in YTFF. We claimed our passes and we got so many wristbands. I got them tied on both of my wrists. I rolled down my sleeves because I was so embarrassed lol. We also got some freebies - a tote bag that has an IAGT shirt (great quality btw), a bottled water, and a pokeball. LOL. I didn’t know what that thing was so I opened it up expecting some pokemon will pop out but it was a plastic that was rolled I thought it was a garbage bag. I unrolled it only to find out that it was a raincoat. The venue is an open ground, especially on the GA area so that was so thoughtful of them. Although, I kind of regret doing that. I had a hard time trying to put the raincoat back on the pokeball. The M&G was scheduled to start at 12:30 and it was only 11:30 so we had a lot of time to spare. I told my cousin we should go back to Market Market to kill some time but it was really hot that time my foundation is melting so we just stayed there and waited. We did a little photoshoot since BGC is a very Instagram-able place. This is the place where I feel like a cool photographer even when I’m not. We even saw the exact spot where Remi took a photo for her recent IG post. Cool. It was finally 12:30 so we went to the meetup place. We passed by the stage and we saw Donnalyn doing a soundcheck. My cousin fangirled. I am writing a separate blog post for my Meet and Greet experience since this is already too long. Read here: whoapotato.weebly.com/home/i-met-bethany-mota-niomi-smart-remi-cruz-abby-asistio-donnalyn-bartolome-and-kiana-valenciano The M&G went on from 12:30 – 4PM. We didn’t have time to eat so we were starving. I asked my cousin who was on her way if she could buy us some food. I was worried that food was not allowed inside the venue so I placed them in my bag and we went inside the VIP area. On our way back we also got some free ice cream. Yay. We were so close to the stage. The show hasn’t started yet and we wanted to participate on the activities/fair outside the venue. I asked my other cousin to reserve us the spots. There are no chairs btw. My feet were sore after the show but I am used to it since YTFF was also like this. We went to the Havaianas booth and there’s like a freedom wall where I wrote “Jughead wuz here”. I got a P200 off voucher. Ok cool. Then we went to the Microsoft area beside it. There’s a photobooth and we were expecting some freebies after but they ran out of it so to compensate, we just took 2 photos. I looked so unhappy on the second photo because that’s when we’re told that they ran out of freebies lmao. The show was started by Anne Clutz and I won’t go into detail about what happened to the whole show anymore. It was very different from YTFF. There are performances but mostly it’s just an interview/forum. The girls are really inspiring. I was hungry during the last half part of the show so I didn’t get to enjoy it as much because I was bothered by the World War 3 happening in my stomach. I was also not expecting the venue to be this hot so it was a struggle since I was wearing a hoodie. And the girl in front of me, no offense, but she smelled like she’s in another World War. I only got to change into a shirt after the show. Then we went straight ahead to Mcdonalds and talked about what just happened. It was still fun and my cousins and I bonded and I think that’s what’s important. The memories we share and the experiences we felt. Also can I just segue how it makes me feel super old??? The girls beside me at the barricade were way younger than I am. Like elementary level young. I am now wondering if I am getting too old for this fangirling thing. Or is it just because this specific event is mostly targeted for young girls? Bish I defo didn’t feel like this at YTFF. Yeah maybe it’s just because of the event. Ugh I need to do something with my life. I can’t be fangirling my whole life, right? So you’ve recently seen your fave in a concert and now that it’s over, you think your world is also over and you don’t know how to continue with your life. It’s alright. It’s completely normal. That’s exactly how I felt when I saw David Archie for the first time after 9 years. I mean I waited 9 years so it was very hard to move on. I couldn’t function for a few days so if you’re like me, I hope these tips will help you because they worked on me.
1. Acceptance – You have to acknowledge that you have a PCD and don’t think that you’re weird crying over someone who doesn’t even know you. It’s normal because that band/person is important to you. Most people experience that and I can assure you that you are not going insane. 2. Talk to someone – Talk to your concert buddy, BFF, anyone. Let it out. Do not bottle up all these emotions on yourself. It helps because it somehow lessens the emotional baggage that you have. If you think your friend in real life doesn’t care, then go online. It’s actually kinda sad that there are more people who will support you there. Basing from my experience, friends that I met online are nicer. 3. Write about it – Jot down your experience. You can make a thread on Twitter, post a blog entry, or even write on your own journal. Relieve that moment and cry if you feel like it. It’s okay because it just means that it’s an important event in your life. After that, you will feel much better like a weight has been lifted off your chest. I personally thank myself I did that because now I can look back on that moment by reading my own story and instead of crying, I catch myself smiling. 4. Distractions – Try not to think about that band/person for a while. I know it’s hard but at least try. Don’t torture yourself. I’m happy that I found the Dolan Twins when I was dealing with my PCD. I watched their videos all day long and I forgot I was sad. Slowly I’m becoming my normal self again. I could watch the concert videos that I took only to hate on myself for shaking too much I got the worst footage ever. 5. Have something to look forward to – I have an event coming up this month, so my attention is on that thing. You need an excitement in your life to put you back on track. It could be another concert you’ll be attending or a new season of your favourite show. Anything that excites you will help you recover from the mess that you are now. 6. Time – If all else fails, then just let time do its thing. It might take 4 days, a week, two weeks, but trust me you’ll get over it. You might not be able to function right now but you will in no time. Stop stressing yourself out. You’ll be fine. That happiness you felt that day, you will experience that again. I have been watching YouTube videos for so long now and I am pretty sure I spend more time on it that I actually do with interacting with people in real life. Now I don’t tolerate this because I still think that it’s important to live your life and spend time with the people around you, but yknow if you’re an introvert like me and you’d rather watch a stranger off the internet than experience an awkward talk with your relative, then please be my guest.
Here are my top 10 current favourite YouTubers that you may or may not know. Now I want to give emphasis on “current”, because there are people not on the list but I still love watching them. It’s just that these ones are my current obsession and I wouldn’t miss a video once it’s up. Also, they are in no particular order. Wow I ramble a lot. Let’s just list them, shall we? 1. Liza Koshy – I mean if you watch YouTube videos and you don’t know her, what are you even doing with your life? People basically call her the Beyonce of YouTube. I know. Superwoman is the Beyonce of YouTube you might argue. Well can’t we just have two Beyonce’s of YouTube? They’re both awesome. Both funny. What I really like about Liza’s videos is that they’re short but you feel like you watched a really good 10-minute video. You have to watch them for you to understand. I wish I have Liza’s brain. Liza's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxSz6JVYmzVhtkraHWZC7HQ 2. Dolan Twins – I remember watching them for the first time and I cringed. I thought they weren’t for me. Young girls are obsessed with them and I was so confused like they weren’t even funny. Yeah I judged them with that one video I watched. Then one time I saw them again on my recommendations and I thought “oh the cringey boys again” but I still clicked on it and boy oh boy that was the best decision I’ve ever made. I ate my words. These twins are hilarious af. If you don’t know them, I suggest you go watch their tooth extraction or roasting each other videos first. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. These twins are precious. Don’t attack them. Or we will attack you. The Dolan Twins' channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheDolanTwins 3. shane – I used to not like Shane’s videos as well. You know, the ones on his main channel Shane Dawson TV. Idk I think they’re just not for me, the videos are too much for me. But this Shane now, I love him more. Shane Dawson TV scares me but this Shane is my safe place. I watch every single video he puts up and I get excited every time I see him on my subscription box. He never fails to make me laugh. Not just smile. Laugh. Shane's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/shane 4. Safiya Nygaard – I’ve always known Saf since her Buzzfeed days and I’m actually glad that she left. I mean I love Buzzfeed because Try Guys, Worth It... you know. But when Saf made her own channel, I appreciated her more. She’s currently the most creative YouTuber that I know of with her unique and original ideas. Her videos are always so interesting and a must-watch. She’s so smart and I could literally listen to her talk for hours. Saf's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbAwSkqJ1W_Eg7wr3cp5BUA 5. David Dobrik – I discovered Liza first and then I learned that her boyfriend is also a YouTuber. I never had Vine okay, don’t give me that look. I don’t really like watching vlogs because they’re usually long and I’m not really that interested to see how they eat or walk so I didn’t have high hopes when I decided to check out his channel. But let me tell you gurl, Liza and David are the perfect couple. I like watching Liza’s videos as much as I enjoy David’s vlogs. They’re also short (4:20 to be exact, I know) but like Liza, it feels like you watched a really good 10-minute video. The time you spent watching their videos is never a wasted time. That’s how good they are. David's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmh5gdwCx6lN7gEC20leNVA 6. Fancy Vlogs By Gab – I am aware that she has a channel with her twin – Niki and Gabi. Although my personality and style is more like Niki, my inner girly side can’t get enough of Gabi. She’s literally like a princess to me. Her videos are just so aesthetically pleasing and calming in the eyes. I used to like Sharpay Evans' character who likes everything pink so it’s no surprise that I like Gabi too. It’s weird tho because if you see me, it doesn’t show at all. People even mistake me for a tomboy because I wear the same set of shirt and jeans every time. Gabi's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLGe0PxyRFWmXVGJKq_gGvw 7. Jenna Marbles – Jenna is one of the legends who started YouTube. You might think that her spark is gone but no, her videos are just getting better and better each time. She could just sit and stare into the camera and I’d still laugh. That’s how entertaining she is. She is the mom of YouTube. She doesn’t give a fvck which basically means she’s the female counterpart of Shane. I love my parents. Jenna's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/JennaMarbles 8. nigahiga – Another legend whose spark is still sparking. Ryan was one of my faves then, he’s still one of my faves now. Every single video he puts up is gold. He’s super creative and you could see that he puts so much work and effort into making his videos. He doesn’t need to get involved in drama and do clickbaits to be relevant. Seriously what did we do to deserve him? Ryan's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/nigahiga 9. Bretman Rock – I don’t curse. It’s not because I think it’s a sin but it’s just that I’m not used to it. Yes I have the guts to type it but you can’t really make me say it. So when I found Bret, I didn’t know if I’d be comfortable to watch his videos but I’m glad I still decided to check him out. He’s one of those people that I find hilarious even when they curse. Like I am so comfortable I wanted to be his BFF so bad. He has the sass I never had. He’s my spirit animal tbh. Bret's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3EFKdXAU99j3ppGgvTz7XQ 10. Zoella – She’s one of the few beauty gurus I watch. I find Zoe to be super genuine whenever she talks in her videos. She’s like a big sister to me. Other beauty gurus are overwhelming for me like no offense but they seem like they’re only in it for the views. Zoe, on the other hand, just seems to be doing her own thing. I know I said I hate long videos but hers are an exception. She could talk about her favourite plate for 30 minutes and I honestly would still watch it. Zoe's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/zoella280390 There you go. These are my current favourites. I watch other YouTubers too and I like discovering new ones everyday so how about you? Who are your Top 10? I hope this list helped you if you're new on YouTube and you're looking for people to watch. I know this post is kinda long. I have the motivation to write today, which is very rare, so I am making the most out of it. Huehue. |
just call her "G"when she can't say it, |
