Y'all here's a drinking game: Drink every time you see the word buffet.
So I just had my first ever buffet experience at Buffet 101. I had high expectations, of course. I don't do buffets because I easily get full whenever I eat so I feel like I would be losing instead of winning at life if I do this. But since everyone I was with wanted to eat there, I had no choice. Plus I would also like to know what it really feels like eating in a buffet. We had our reservations for lunch at 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. We paid for PHP699 per head. We were at this really long table because we brought the whole barangay with us lol. There were at least 25 of us. My friend and I were actually there at 11 but since the walls are made out of glass, we could see how many people were already inside and there were only a few so we opted to wait for more of our comrades outside. Good thing is that Buffet 101 provided chairs outside so we sat there while waiting. There was a receptionist outside so we asked about our reservation and she confirmed it and told us that we could enter already, and that was what we did when it was 12 noon. Someone guided us at our table. The restaurant is not too big but it is enough since there wasn't a lot of people at the time. I guess one factor is that we were there on a Friday and in the afternoon. I bet there's more people on weekends and evenings. We weren't complete yet but since we wouldn't want to waste our time there, we went ahead and grabbed some food. Plates were everywhere under the tables so it was easy to grab one. The utensils were already on our own table but if we wanted new ones, they had this drawer labeled spoon and fork. We got some of those too. They had knives there as well which weren't provided on the table. They had sections for different kinds of food. There were Japanese food like sushi and all those I can't pronounce. I tried some of the sushi but I was kind of disappointed with the taste. I have tasted good sushis before and the ones at Buffet 101 were not my kind of sushi. Well to be fair there were some that tasted good but since there were a lot of different kinds, I already forgot what they were called. There was also a section for seafood. Different dishes for seafood. I haven't picked those because I am not a big fan of seafood plus I did not want to eat heavy meals because as I have said, I easily get full. There were also different dishes made out of meat and pork. I tried this one pork my friend suggested I should try. There was someone there who would slice it for you and you could tell him how many slices you want. There were options for which sauce you want to add and I chose BBQ sauce but that was a bad choice. The pork was good but the sauce wasn't its match. You could also order some pasta and ask them to cook it for you. They would write on their stubs and ask for your table number. They would serve it to you when it's done. It wasn't that much but you could always order another one if you liked it. The first one my friend had tasted really good but when she ordered again it did not taste as good. Maybe they changed chefs lol. There were also Filipino dishes there. I don't know why they don't have the usual Adobo and Sinigang, though. Maybe that's their thing but I wished they had those because I would really love to eat those too. However, there was a huge selection. Well if you are like me who doesn't read the labels and just get everything you think might be good, I suggest you read them. I ate this one deep fried food and I was expecting there would be ham and bacon inside but it was really weird when I bit and realized I just had fruits. I had to go back and read the label. It was like a deep fried mango or whatever. I am not good at describing and labeling food, okay. I am just good at eating them. They had different beverages. You could get a fruit drink which I forgot the name but it tasted like nata de coco. They also had cucumber juice which I tried because I was trying to fool myself that I was eating healthy. There were different softdrinks. There was even a beer which I wanted to try so bad. Nah, just kidding. I puked when I tried drinking it one time so I curse it now. There were frozen Milo and Coffee. Lots of glasses were also available under the table so you can really have bottomless drinks and I think I took advantage of that way too much that I had to pee every five minutes. I like their comfort room. Elevator music was playing. There were lots of tissues. It wasn't crowded. There wasn't a line at all. The bowls were clean. The flush was working and flushed a lot of water so I knew I would be safe if I poop there which, thankfully, did not happen. The buffet also had steamed siomai and siopao, which was cool, but I would rather not eat those at a buffet because I could buy them outside our house. My philosophy is that when you go to a buffet, eat everything you don't usually eat. Lol that is maybe your only chance so take advantage of it, gurl. There was a hot soup there as well. There were rice - plain and other ways of cooking rice. I personally preferred not to eat rice. It would definitely get me full immediately and we're trying to avoid that situation. There was ramen but it would get me full as well, although I bet it was good. I was so happy when I found out they had pizzas and french fries. My two favorite food in the world. Of course I had to get another plate specifically for those. I had two slices of pizzas and just a handful of french fries. They were both good. I suggest, though, that you wait for freshly cooked french fries because we know that they are always better than cold soggy fries. There was also an area for vegetable lovers out there. Obviously I am not one of them because we know that I am more of the pizza and french fries kind of girl. You could make your own vegetable salad there with all those vegetables and dressing and stuff. I should have tried those. I think they would taste good. It is kind of ironic that near those vegetables are desserts. Lol. I had my dessert at 2:00 PM which is a very critical time. We had to leave at 2:30 but I wanted to try out each dessert because diabetes is life. Nah just kidding. I don't usually eat junk food and sugar. Please trust me on this one. So I was not that guilty when I said I wanted to eat each dessert they had. That chocolate cake looked delicious AF I was not surprised it was gone in just a matter of seconds. They had a fondue but I did not like it that much because it tasted like cocoa powder and I prefer my fondue to taste like dark chocolate. They had cookies and brownies and ice cream and halo halo and everything tasted sweet. What else should we expect? They had candies and gummy worms and sprinkles you should get your child away from it I must warn you. It was really cute I felt like I was in a cafe. You could even make your own hot tea or coffee. I had this coffee shake c/o Nescafe. I drank this last because coffee makes me want to poo but I love coffee so much I could not resist the temptation. They had different kinds of pudding there. I also asked for a red velvet cake and crepe which, unfortunately, had not reached my taste buds. You want to know why? BECAUSE TIME WAS UP. I FREAKING WAS NOT ABLE TO FINISH MY RED VELVET CAKE AND BLUEBERRY CREPE BECAUSE WE HAD TO GO. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I JUST LOST TO A BUFFET. I AM SO SAD. No, but kidding aside, my experience was superb. It even exceeded my expectations. I like that although the restaurant is not that big, it did not feel like it. The buffet was not crowded. The staff are nice. The food are awesome. I feel so satisfied and full. We finished at around 3 PM and here I am writing this blog at 10 PM. Still not hungry. Honestly, when we went outside the restaurant and I saw this delicious looking cake, that was the first time ever that I did not crave for a piece of it. I am not sure if it was well worth the money, though. We paid Php699 for it. Yes, almost like Php700. That's a lot. I don't think I have ever spent that much money in one day just for food. It is not just practical for people like me. I might eat there again someday, maybe when I get a job and earn like thousands a month. But for now, I think I would have to sell a kidney so I could eat there again. I also wish they could add in some elevator music because that would make the place feel cozy and more relaxing. Those were my only problems, though, which is why I rate this experience and Buffet 101 a shining and shimmering 4/5 stars. P.S. I can't say buffet without thinking of Phoebe Buffay. What has F.R.I.E.N.D.S done to me?
